Helpful Advice Of Cartier Movement

Some people suggest that maybe someone could explain in further detail for a relative newbie.Does that mean that Cartier has just re-marked the ETA movement, or?They  feel like I read talk of them moving to more in-house. Any information on this?

Other people think that this may confuse your question even further; but about 6 weeks ago, i ventured into the Cartier store here in Southern California – I believe one of the largest in the US – and looked at the Tank XL (and bought one in fact); The asst. manager of the store, and a big watch ‘geek’ told me very specifically that Cartier is ‘very quietly, on the down low” starting to use one of their own in-house movements in the Tank XL, and move away from the ETA/049 movements used prior in these lower priced mechanical watches. He went on in detail to say the only way to tell is by the serial number; frankly, I have not popped off the back of my watch to verify this, but I have no reason to not believe it, as Swatch Group has made it quite well known that they are drastically cutting supplies to OEMs, and Cartier has significantly beefed up its movement dept, and such. In any event, the Solo XL is a great watch… its become my daily wear watch, though the bracelet is so highly polished, it shows every little scratch.. which there are not lots of.
