Detomaso Forza Black Automatic DT2056-D
Today I’d like to share my thoughts on a stealth/combat replica watch model offered from Detomaso Watches. As I have stated before, the German based company has really produced some budget friendly replica watches, continuing with their goal of establishing replica watch collections that would highlight the owner’s persona to be captured in various venues such as; a sporting environment, normal everyday life, or in the executive boardroom. All of the models that I have previously reviewed would be classified as either dive replica watches or dive style replica watches. Detomaso produces much more than budget friendly dive style replica watches and the Forza is a prime example. The Forza can be found through various online retailers such as Amazon for around $330USD with some quality specifications including an incredibly stealthy/combat design on this particular model. The Forza DT2056-D or combat edition as I like to call it comes with the following basic specifications:
- MOVEMENT: Automatic
- CASE: PVD Coated Stainless Steel 316L
- CASE DIAMETER: 50mm
- STRAP: Leather Strap
- WATER RESISTANCE: 10ATM
The case is composed of stainless steel which is black PVD coated from top to bottom. The PVD coating overall seems to be pretty good quality and evenly applied. The case is completely brushed from top to bottom as well, which will help in hiding small surface scratches, which are inevitable for any replica watch. The case measures a robust 50mm in diameter and a mammoth 57mm including the crown, so while stealthy in color scheme not so much so when it comes to size.
The lug tip to lug tip measurement is also a substantial 57mm but due to the squared off lug design the case sits rather flat on the wrist with minimal overhang. As one would expect based on the general case measures, the replica watch weighs a hefty 151 grams on the leather strap. Taking into account all of the dimensions along with the weight, the wearer along with everyone else will take notice of this stealthy timepiece. The 57mm lug tip to lug tip measurement I think will work for some smaller wrists but really should make those of us with larger wrists feel pretty confident about how the replica watch will sit across the wrist. In most instances and oversized replica watch means we will probably find an oversized crown which is exactly the case on the Forza. A 11mm push pull crown is positioned at the 3 o’clock position on the case. The crown due to size and double gear shaped design is extremely easy to grasp and engage. When engaged the crown is firm with no play or wiggle on this particular example. I greatly admire the almost canteen style appearance on this particular model which is a perfect compliment to the massive case. A large 8mm push button function pusher is positioned at the 2 o’clock position on the case, which operated the calendar month of the year complication on the model. The only aspect of the case that I am not fond of would be the case branding on the opposite side of the case.
I personally believe far to many replica watch companies over brand. In this particular instance, I would have much preferred a simple logo on the crown to go along with the rest of the branding found on the dial.
The fixed bezel on the Forza is rather unique looking with four riders surrounding the crystal that do rest over the crystal edge in their respective locations. The riders will provide an added layer of protection against scratches and dings to the crystal. A large sapphire glass coated mineral crystal measuring a whopping 41mm in diameter provides are great view of the large stealth dial. The dial is so stealthy that with my poor eyesight I found it quite difficult at first to distinguish between the various complications. The numbers painted on the chapter ring, however, do allow for easily distinguishing the time. The Forza is a no date replica watch model with power reserve, month of the year, day of the week and 24 hour indicator complications. While I like the provided complications I have always found it a bit odd to have day of the week complication without a numerical date to go along with it which is probably just a personal preference. However, due to the stealth nature of this model a numerical date window would be counterproductive to the overall design. I prefer the choice of the gray enamel handset as it provides a perfect color contrast against the rest of the dial. The Detomaso crest as usual is present as the counter balance on the sweep second hand that is a nice added detail. No lume on this model as expected since it is a stealth/combat edition.
The case back is screwed down to the upper part of the case. The case back has general specification information etched around the perimeter about the replica watch model that is typical of many case backs and also includes an logo and the brand name at its center. Beneath the case back is a modern Japanese Miyota 9100 series automatic movement providing all the great complications found on this model. The movement has been as accurate as one may expect from the newer Miyota automatics.
Finishing off the Forza is fantastic leather strap, which reminds me of straps found on U-Boat models since the lug edge of the strap is covered by metal end cap. The strap edges at the lug appear to be held in place by screws on the underside of the end cap. I have to admit that I am concerned about the longevity of strap design. I’m not going to disassemble the strap but will make the assumption that the screws go through the strap and rest up against the other side of the metal end cap. If the screws are only resting up against the underside of the leather strap itself then obviously over time the strap will most certainly slip out of the end caps. The strap measures 22mm at the lug with no taper through to the tail end of the strap. The strap is a substantial 4mm in overall thickness and is rather soft and pliable that will allow for a comfortable fit on the wrist. Two keepers are provided, one fixed and one floating, which are an important part of any quality strap in my humble opinion. The strap is finished off with a sturdy signed thumbnail style PVD buckle.
As I mentioned previously, Detomaso produces much more than budget friendly dive style replica watches and the Forza is a prime example. The Forza provides quality specifications such as the oversized sturdy case design, which is quite stealthy, large sapphire coated crystal, substantial strap and a reliable Miyota 9100 series automatic movement.
