An Observed Reviews: Citizen Men’s JY0005-50E Eco-Drive Skyhawk A-T Watch

There is no doubt that hearing their alternative name that is Citizen Watch Company. It is just a fact of global marketing, namely the introduction of the brand abroad will always be fraught with problems.

An Observed Reviews: Citizen Men’s JY0005-50E Eco-Drive Skyhawk A-T Watch
For example many of you reading this will be familiar with the company known as LG Electronics but what very few people know is that the “LG” in their company name actually stands for “Lucky Goldstar” – they had to adapt their brand to suit the Western market.

Citizen had to do the same thing despite the fact that they’ve been supplying the world’s watch market with accurate and advanced timepieces since 1924. Their Eco-Drive range of watches is just the very latest in their commitment to maintain their position as not only largest manufacturer of watches in the world but also the most innovative.

Environmentally Friendly. If you’re not familiar with the Eco-Drive range of watches then it simply means that the watch itself can be powered by any source of natural or man-made light, including interior lights. Now using light to power a watch isn’t exactly a new idea but Citizen have taken things a step further with their Eco-Drive watches in that the entire watch face is actually a solar panel so you’re not using any of the aesthetic “real estate” on your watch for a small separate solar panel. The Citizen JY0005-50E Eco-Drive Skyhawk is also constantly charging itself and will warn you 3 days in advance of the power running out, so there’s no need to constantly leave your watch lying in the sun. Being an Eco-Drive also means that you’ll probably never need to worry about changing a battery in this watch.

Sports Watch. The dark grey Citizen Eco-Drive Skyhawk is also a watch designed almost entirely for the sports or sporting market, featuring a mixture of both analog and digital displays. Although a Citizen men’s watch of this quality will never look out of place on any gent’s wrist there’s the undeniable fact that this chronograph was designed with the sportsman in mind – the subdials also speaking directly to this fact. In terms of design the watch is incredibly sleek considering the amount of “data” it can present you with via the digital and analog displays.

Atomic Timekeeping. On top of being an incredibly sporty watch the Citizen Skyhawk is also a radio controlled watch so you’ll never need to worry about your watch losing time. The JY0005-50E watch itself is synchronized to an atomic clock in Colorado via stations in Asia, Europe and the United States. Internally the Japanese-quartz movement ensures that your watch keeps accurate, maintenance-free time too.

Versatile Display. This Citizen eco drive watch has tons of features packed into a dial that feels relatively “small” even though it’s anything but. The dark grey finish of the watch is matched by the black dial which features 2 digital display areas and 4 subdials also, these displays being capable of displaying anything from the local time, to the time zone, the city you’re in and, of course, a perpetual calendar also; these functions being directly accessible via the watch crown. The dial itself is protected by a layer of hardened, durable and non-reflective mineral crystal that is more than tough enough to keep everything beneath it intact and you also have luminous accents in place on the dial for use in low-light conditions.

Rugged. JY0005-50EThe Citizen Eco-Drive is made from brushed and polished stainless steel so you’re getting some very classic styling here but also the durability that comes with this type of finish. This particular Citizen Eco watch is also available in a titanium finish but at a higher price, the stainless steel being more than adequate for this watch – if somewhat heavier than titanium of course. The bracelet is polished and brushed stainless steel, fitted with a standard “push button” clasp.

Color Choices. This Citizen men’s watch is also available in brushed and polished titanium but the stainless steel, black model is being reviewed here – it’s really a case of personal preference and what your budget allows for too, of course.

Dimensions. The Citizen Skyhawk AT shares fairly typical dimensions for a watch of this type from Citizen. The watch case has a diameter of 48mm and a case thickness of 15mm which is marginally bigger than your average gent’s watch. That being said this watch is fabricated using stainless steel so if you have smaller wrists you might find this watch to be a bit too heavy to wear every day.

Additional Features. The Citizen Eco Drive is water resistant to 200 meters (660 feet) but again always bear in mind that water resistant and water proof are two very different feature sets on a watch. You also benefit from having 2-alarms on this watch and, of course, a bi-directional bezel for any time and distance calculations you need to make.
In my view,I think Black coating will eventually wear off case.In the meantime , this watch is not really user-friendly, but very few people left. But just depend on your perference of buying, you can make a good decision.
